INFOWEAPONS WHITEPAPERS

  • Why do you need DNSSEC?
  • Lawrence E. Hughes
    Founder and CTO, InfoWeapons
  • Some people complain that everyone must use DNSSEC before it is useful. Clearly this is not true. As long as critical sites . ones which a pharming attack could present a serious problem . use DNSSEC, that is a big win.
  • When Will IPv4 Addresses Run Out? (updated)
  • Stephan Lagerholm
  • Various studies and articles have been published in recent years with estimates concerning the exhaustion of IPv4. While no one can predict the exhaustion date of IPv4 with certainty, we all know it is inevitable. It is no longer a question of .if,. but rather of .when.. Various mathematical calculations, along with discussions on how different variables affect the exhaustion date are used to approach this complex challenge.
  • Implementing DNS on IPv6
  • Lawrence E. Hughes
    Founder and CTO, InfoWeapons
  • DNS, or the Domain Naming System, is a critical part of any TCP/IP network infrastructure. It allows people to use a hierarchical, mnemonic naming system (e.g. www.hp.com) for network nodes, while the underlying transport mechanisms actually use a numeric address. In the case of IPv4, that address is 32 bits long. With IPv6, it is 128 bits.
