Survey Shows Many IT Administrators Unaware of DNSSEC
While most corporate IT experts agree that current Internet security leaves much to be desired, very little of them have heard of DNSSEC, the security standard developed precisely to combat cache-poisoning that leads to identify thefts and other forms of cybercrimes.
This was the conclusion reached by Internet Identity and Online Trust Alliance, which recently conducted a survey of IT security experts, according to ITBusinessEdge.com. And the numbers are glaring, albeit underwhelming. Only five percent of those polled said their organization has already implemented DNSSEC, while an additional 16 percent plan to implement it.
The good news is majority agree that DNSSEC adoption is inevitable, although they see it taking two to five years. Another bit of good news is that only one percent acknowledged their organization has experienced losses due to cache poisoning attacks.
ITBusinessEdge.com has prepared a slideshow of the main survey findings, which you can view here.
