IPv6 Forum Certified Course & Network Engineer (CNE6 Silver)

IPv6 Forum Certified Course Silver

Course Description
The Certified IPv6 Network Engineer Level 1 (CNE6 Silver) course is intended for network and system engineers who need to understand the new features and operational characteristics of networks that include IPv6. It introduces participants to the basic concepts of IPv6 and how these differ from IPv4, related protocols, and the various transition mechanisms that help add support for IPv6 into existing networks. Course participants can immerse themselves in InfoWeapons' deep pool of IPv6 technology expertise as they learn how to configure networking software and devices to support IPv6, how to use auto-configuration to manage IPv6 addresses with both Stateless Address Autoconfiguration and DHCPv6, and how various IPv6 mechanisms work, such as Address Resolution, Router Discovery, Neighbor Unreachability Detection, the available transition mechanisms and how they work, and more.

CNE6 Silver Course Versions
This course is available as a Lecture and Demo course (CNE6 Silver) where participants watch student node labs done by the trainer, or as a Hands-on course (CNE6 Silver+) where participants perform student node labs themselves.

Hands-on courses are limited to a maximum class size of 10-12 due to the attention required to manage and track each participant. Client node labs involve installing a dual-stack Ubuntu Desktop node, a dual-stack web server (Apache) and a dual-stack e-mail server (Postfix / Dovecot). A final lab deploys a web application (Squirrelmail) on top of Apache.

Course Pre-requisites
Although good knowledge of general networking concepts is assumed, the course does not require any prior experience with IPv6. Knowledge on the level of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Network Engineer is recommended, even if these covered only IPv4. Successful completion of the CNE6 Level 1 (Silver) course is a requirement for the CNE6 Level 2 (Gold) course.

Testing
Mastery of the course is validated through a written exam and successful completion of labs in the Hands-on course. The CNE6 Level 1 (Silver) course does not have proctored testing at this time. Participants completing either version of the course (Lecture and Demo or Hands-On) and passing the written exam are considered certified.

Duration and Schedule
The CNE6 Level 1 (Silver) course is completed over four days, with an additional day for the certification exam.

Day 1 to 4: Lecture and Demo, Lab Exercises (6 hours per day)
Day 5: CNE6 Silver Certification Exam (three hours)
